The Estuary Project is financed by federal appropriations under the Clean Water Act and matching funds from the state and local entities.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY OIL SPILL

The container ship M/V Cosco Busan struck the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Bridge in heavy fog at approximately 8:30 a.m. on November 7, 2007. This resulted in a spill of 58,000 gallons of bunker fuel which spread through the Bay and along the west coasts of San Francisco and Marin Counties. The U.S. Coast Guard is the first responder for the Federal government and the CA. Dept. of Fish and Game - Office of Spill Prevention and Response (OSPR), is the lead agency for the State. Additional agencies involved are the Governor's Office of Emergency Services (OES), National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Parks Service, The National Marine Sanctuaries and other State and local agencies.

The links below provide the most up to date information on the oil spill and how you can help.

CCMP UPDATE : The San Francisco Estuary Project has completed an Update to its 1993 Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP). The 2007 Draft CCMP is being forwarded to the Estuary Project's Executive Council for review and expected concurrence.
